All about Solfeggio Frequencies

It is true that music soothes the savage beast, and it can also have an impact on one's physical and mental health. The power of sound is nothing to take lightly. For instance, think about the last time you heard your favorite song. How good did it make you feel? Music can instantly lighten one's mood. Sounds of all kinds have an effect on us, some good and some not so good. Today we are going to take a look at Solfeggio frequencies, which are very specific tones that can cause a mental or physical reaction. Let's get started.

What are Solfeggio Frequencies?

Solfeggio frequencies are very specific tones that are known to help promote good health, for both body and mind. These frequencies were discovered in ancient times (more on this in the next section), and today are used as fundamental sounds in Eastern Indian religions and Western Christianity. They have been chanted by Gregorian Monks, and used in ancient Indian Sanskrit.

In the 1970's, researcher and physician Dr. Joseph Puleo began working with Solfeggio frequencies, and people began to learn more about how they are used and how much they can help to promote overall good health. His research included reducing numbers to come up with six tones that are measurable and can help to balance the body and help with physical and mental healing.

The History of Solfeggio Frequencies

The Solfeggio Scale was introduced in the 11th century by Benedictine monk Guide D'Arezzo. The scale has also been referred to as “Just Intonation”. It is thought that these particular tones date back to ancient times. For instance, the vocal scale ut-re-mi-fa-sol-la, (known today as do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti-do) was originally from a hymn to John the Baptist, which was written by Paulus Diaconus.

Long before the 11th century, the six tones in the scale were already being used in more than 150 chants by Gregorian monks. The tones are said to go back to Biblical times. By the 14th century, the tones were no longer used in music, thanks to technological advancements in music, such as new instrument tuning methods.

Just Intonation featured “pure intervals” that are found between each note that were mathematically related through “ratios of small whole numbers”. This created a pure sound, but following the creation of the Twelve Tone Equal Temperament”, the original six Solfeggio tones seemed to all but disappear.

According to Joachim Ernst-Berendt, this 12-Tone Equal Temperament “mistunes all consonant intervals except the octave”. He felt that the tones being used would actually stress people out and lead to illness rather than bring about balance and healing. Today, the scale is thought to be off-kilter with the universe's rhythms. Hence people look to Solfeggio tones when they want the healing powers of natural, pure tones.

How do Solfeggio Frequencies Relate to the Chakras?

We all have what are thought to be energy wheels in our bodies. There are seven of these wheels, and they are known as chakras. There are seven chakras, and when they are out of balance or blocked, it can lead to both physical and mental health issues. In many cases, Solfeggio frequencies are used to remove these blocks.

As we mentioned in the introduction, music soothes the savage beast. So, it only stands to reason that when one needs chakra healing that they would turn to Solfeggio frequencies, seeing as how they are associated with music in the first place. By playing sounds that are at these frequencies, the chakras can become realigned. Let's take a look at the Solfeggio frequencies that correspond with the chakras.

Root Chakra

The 396 Hz frequency is the one that activates the Root Chakra. It is said to help in the reduction of fear and guilt, and many use it as a tool to help them achieve their desires and goals. When the Root Chakra is activated by this frequency, many energies are released, including strength, courage, will, resourcefulness, and being able to survive.

Sacral Chakra

Solfeggio frequency 417 Hz corresponds to the Sacral Chakra, as well as the musical note “re”, the second in the vocal scale. This tone can be used to help increase cell health and ensure that the cells are functioning as they should.

Solar Plexus Chakra

The 528 Hz frequency is known as the frequency of the sun, as stated by NASA, and it also corresponds to the Solar Plexus Chakra. This particular frequency is also referred to as the frequency of love.

Heart Chakra

The 639 Hz Solfeggio frequency is associated with the Heart Chakra, and it is often used by those who wish to create harmony and balance in their relationships. It can be used to help people deal with relationship problems with family, friends, and lovers. This tone is also known to be associated with Fa on the vocal scale.

Throat Chakra

The 741 Hz Solfeggio Frequency corresponds to the Throat Chakra, as well as to the note “salt”. Working with this tone can help to free one from all outside influences, and decrease their dependence on world views and ideas from outside. This tone is also used for clearing electromagnetic radiation from the cells.

Third Eye Chakra

Frequency 852 Hz corresponds to the Third Eye Chakra, and with the note “La”. This frequency can be used to help people re-learn how to communicate with the spirit world. It helps those who wish to awaken their clairvoyant powers.

Crown Chakra

Finally, we come to Solfeggio frequency 963 Hz, which is associated with the Crown Chakra. This tone is often used for meditation along with Tibetan singing bowls to help with clearing the mind and balance.

Conclusion

There is a lot to be said about the healing power of sound. Solfeggio frequencies are used not only for healing benefits, but also for meditations, prayer, and more. They can be used to improve physical and mental well-being, and are almost as old as the world itself.
