Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means a wheel. Seven energy centers (spinning wheels) along our spine create our energetic field. Each chakra carries energy to balance the mind, body, and spirit.
These chakras, along with their Sanskrit names, are:
The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine in the perineum region. It is our energetic foundation. It gives a person the strength and courage to go about their day-to-day life. The energy of this base chakra is radiant red, and the stability of this chakra is a must for the upper chakras to be in balance. It covers your basic needs, especially your sense of safety and survival. The element of The Root Chakra is Earth. When balanced, a person feels grounded financially, socially, and emotionally.
The Root Chakra can get blocked as a result of trauma. It could be a trauma from a person's childhood. It could be a trauma that has resulted in fear a person carries. The Root chakra also gets blocked when someone has lots of self-doubts. They lack the courage to take action, even in the right direction. If emotional issues such as anxiety or depression are not addressed, The Root Chakra becomes imbalanced.
All these issues can result from parent wounds, failures, or phobias.
When not in balance, The Root Chakra can manifest some emotional, physical, and spiritual signs such as:
You can include some things in your routine to cleanse, balance, and activate The Root Chakra.
You need to work with a counselor or an energy healer to face all your fears. Any suppressed fear can wreak havoc on your Root Chakra. Similarly, if there are traumas of any kind, they also need to be healed.
Meditation is one of the most effective ways to bring The Root Chakra in balance. Once you start meditating, further damage to The Root Chakra will stop. The first step for meditation is to ground your energies. Practice staying in the present moment, followed by visualizations centered around your connection with the Earth. Visualizing red energy spinning at the base of the spine will help reduce blockages of The Root Chakra.
The more your connection with the Earth is strong, the more your Root Chakra will be in a balance. If you walk barefoot or sit on the ground barefoot while meditating, your Root Chakra will begin to stabilize itself. If it is overactive, it will ground any excess energy. If underactive, The Root Chakra will draw energy from the Earth and replenish itself.
In case you don't have access to the ground all the time, setting an intention or visualizing walking barefoot will also work. It is all a game of energy, and intentions are sometimes enough
Trees are like portals for connecting to the energy of Mother Earth. Trees carry spiritual energy, and when you hug trees, you create an energy exchange in a way that your Root Chakra activates and begins to balance itself. This is why spending time leaning or sitting under a tree is so relaxing. You can place your hands on the tree and ask its spirit to help you achieve the balance of The Root Chakra.
396Hz is the Solfeggio frequency that heals and balances The Root Chakra. This frequency helps get rid of fears and traumas that get stored in your Root Chakra. It replaces these with optimism and connection with your spirit. 396 Hz removes subconscious limiting beliefs that stop us from taking action in life. You can use this frequency as a pure tone or strike a singing bowl (metal or crystal) attuned to 396 Hz.
The mantra for The Root Chakra is Lam. If you keep chanting this mantra within meditation or along with the 396 Hz singing bowl, your Root Chakra will start to stabilize.
Some affirmations you can repeat to yourself for The Root Chakra are:
In a mountain yoga pose, we can find balance and connection with Earth, with our awareness entirely centered on our feet touching the ground.
This pose improves the balance of the body. This pose turns off our fight-or-flight mechanism, which is usually overactive when The Root Chakra is imbalanced.
Upasana - Knee To Chest Pose
This yoga pose relieves lower back pain and bowel issues. These issues are dominant in Root Chakra issues.
To make this mudra, you have to interlace the pinky fingers and the ring fingers of both hands with each other. Do this in a way that the tips of all the four fingers are between both the palms. Then join the middle fingers with their tips touching outward. And then join the tip of one thumb with the tip of the index finger of the other hand. Do this to the second thumb and the second index fingers. Hold this mudra for about 15 minutes each day and a maximum of 45 minutes daily to balance The Muladhara.
Crystals
Crystals that are in any shade of red and black are for the Root Chakra.
For boosting willpower: Red Carnelian and Hematite.
For grounding the energy: Fire Agate and Black Tourmaline.
For prosperity and vitality: Red Jasper.
For negative energy cleansing and protection from energy drainers: Black Obsidian, Ruby, and Blood Stone.
You can use these crystals by wearing them or holding them while meditating using any chants, mantras, or affirmations of The Muladhara.
You don't need to be some sort of professional therapist to do color therapy on yourself. Red invigorates The Root Chakra. So, start to wear red outfits more often. Notice where you can find red color in nature. Perhaps visit a garden with lots of red tulips or sit under a tree whose leaves have turned red. You can also use LED lamps with changing lights and set the color to red.
Try to include foods such as strawberries, pomegranate, carrots, tomatoes, red bell peppers, watermelon, and red grapes.
Essential oils for The Root Chakra are sandalwood, cypress, black pepper, cedar wood, patchouli, and ylang ylang.
Drink dandelion, clove, raspberry leaf, ashwagandha, hibiscus flower, or ginger root tea.
We hope all of these tips will help you strengthen the grounding energies of your Root Chakra.
