Distance Healing Methods to Try for Beginners

Have you ever been randomly thinking of someone you care about, and they happen to send you a text message at that exact moment? Have you ever wished something bad upon someone, and then felt incredibly guilty after something horrible actually happens to them?
There are little clues and signs about the powers of our thoughts all around us. Just as you can feel the warmth and light of someone’s love who is far away from you, you can send that energy right back at them.
We all want to take care of those we love, and support them during their struggles. The simple truth is that being physically close to your loved ones is not always possible.
Anyone who has been away from their loved ones during a time of need can tell you how painful it truly is. It is incredibly difficult to be away from your friends and family when they are suffering. Whether they are sick with a passing cold, a serious ailment, a mental health struggle, or a chronic disease, we want to comfort them.
You might feel like there is nothing you can do. The worst part of the whole experience is how hopeless it all seems.
Yet, in the spiritual world, we are equipped with divine knowledge and understanding. Whether you are just starting your spiritual journey, or have been in this world for some time, you have definitely come across the idea that our thoughts shape and create our reality. Our thoughts are powerful enough to attract our manifestations into our lives and to radiate positive energy. This means that our thoughts have healing powers, as well.
Distance healing is the practice of sending positive, healing energy to someone who you are not physically close to. It can be done through meditation, manifestation, visualization, or some other ritual practice. Your positive energy and vibration will purposefully transcend the normal bounds of space and time to reach the person you care about and are trying to help. Any act that includes a “conscious intent, wish, or focus dedicated to improve the health or well-being of another person who is far away” can be considered a distance healing practice. The most commonly known practice of distance healing is traditional religious prayer. Even if you are not religious, you can still harness the power of positive thought to send healing energy to someone you care about.
Worrying about someone adds an energy of fear to the world. The emotions of stress and worry only create more fear about them, yourself, and the situation. Your mind is focusing on the negative, and producing even more negative by thinking about everything that could go wrong. Distance healing practices provide a more hopeful and high-vibration alternative to worrying about someone you love.
The more awareness and control you gain over your energetic and vibrational power, the more you can wield this power to help yourself and others. Some refer to the process of getting in touch with your energy for the purpose of healing as “attunement.” The more attuned you become with the power of your mind and your thoughts, the more you can practice distance healing.
Additionally, distance healing could be used if you have become separated from a loved one for personal reasons of disagreement, hurt, or dispute. Sending distance healing vibrations to a loved one you are estranged with, separated from, or no longer speak to can still have a powerful effect. In some cases, performing distance healing rituals with friends or relatives you no longer speak to can open the door to healing the relationship.
The recipients of your energy may experience the vibrations you send them differently, depending on their open-mindedness to the process. Those recipients who are extremely negative or close-minded may have a harder time feeling the immediate impacts of your healing energy. Those who are more open-minded and are aware you are sending them positive energy could feel more relaxed, optimistic, and empowered.
Distance Reiki
The work Reiki originally comes from the phrase “universal life force.” Traditional Reiki is a practice that includes a certified practitioner transforming the energy centers in your body and clearing your chakral blockages by attuning to your vibration. Reiki practitioners often feel they are conduits, harnessing the energy of the universe and setting up the recipient for natural healing with that energy. While Reiki is normally practiced in person, distance Reiki has been growing in popularity.
Reiki is considered a spiritual practice that requires training, learning, and certification. Before performing Reiki, it’s important to research the origins and best methods of the practice. For a beginner’s distance Reiki session, try following the simple steps below.
1. Create a relaxing, calm, and peaceful environment to perform the Reiki in.
2. Look at a recent picture of the person you are sending energy to, or write their name on a piece of paper. Any symbol of them can help encourage energy flow.
3. Stare at the picture and take deep breaths. Repeat out loud or in your mind an affirmation that describes what type of energy you’d like to send your loved one.
4. Optional: hold out your hands with your palms facing each other, as if you are holding the energetic essence of your loved one. Softly stare at the essence of all they are, and imagine a white light beaming front his person’s soul energy. Say out loud: “May this person or situation be filled with Reiki for the highest healing good,” or some other affirmation of your choice.
Visualization is a way to send positive energy to someone very far away.
1. As always, create a peaceful space around you for meditation. Find a position you are comfortable in, and allow yourself to relax.
2. Just as in the Reiki practice, try looking at or holding a photo, belonging, or item that represents the person you are focusing on.
3. Optional: You may choose to write down the visualization in a journal or notebook. To do this, write all about your loved ones’ life as if they have already healed from their struggle. How does their day look now that they are not shrouded in pain, fear, or anxiety? How do they act now? How do they feel? Write as if the positive changes have already occurred for them.
4. Imagine this person living their very best life, with as much detail as possible. Imagine everything they would be doing if they were not held back by any negative energy or pain. Try picturing them in this positive light, and hold onto that picture with every fiber of your being. Believe that this reality is completely possible for this person, and picture them entering this reality at this very moment.
5. Continue taking deep breaths, and continue focusing deeply on this vision. When you are done with this meditation, imagine that you are also entering the timeline where this reality has become true for your loved one.
If you prefer to think of energy in the form of angels, you may enjoy trying to send someone you love guardian angels for their journey. You can meditate or pray that angels will find and help your person reach their highest good. Angel energies don’t tend to hold prejudice over those that don’t believe in them, so this may work particularly well for someone not in the spiritual world.
The most difficult part of the energy and angel sending process is letting go of the outcome. If you’ve asked the angels to help protect and guide your loved one, you must also be willing to submit to the divine order of things. There is usually a bigger picture to all suffering. Trusting in the divine energy of the angels, releasing your grip, and focusing on your own energy can better serve your loved one.
When you are feeling doubtful, ask the angels for a sign to validate that they are helping. Make sure to ask for a very specific sign that will undoubtedly let you know the angels are trying to communicate with you. Popular signs include a white feather, an unexpected rainbow, or an actual angel symbol somewhere random. Rather than frantically searching, trust that your faith will allow you to easily recognize this sign when it comes.
The idea of being able to influence outcomes from far away is something I struggled to grasp. Could I really support my brother from 500 miles away? Would it be possible to heal my relationships with my parents through positive thought and gratitude? Of course, I thought this idea was silly at first. Through little tests and personal thought experiments, I began seeing how powerful gratitude and mental energy could be. I saw my relationships improve, and my silent prayers come to life. Now of course this could be by random chance or a placebo effect. I personally choose to move through life believing in the divine power we all have to shape our reality through our thoughts in one way or another, placebo or not.
Distance healing is something I strive to incorporate into my daily life. If I see a car crash, I will mentally send waves of health, safety, and love towards them. When I cross the street and pass by a group of strangers, I silently hope they all have one of the most blessed days of their lives. Oftentimes, when leaving a tip at a restaurant, I’ll silently bless the money, and hope that the server is able to find financial freedom and abundance.
Sending strangers positive energy is never wasted, because as we discussed, your energy is powerful. Try testing out the power of your positive and negative thoughts with little experiments. You may be surprised by the power your mind has to bring certain outcomes to reality.
